Jonglei State team won over Terekeka State by 5 to 3 on Saturday, April 23, in the final of an inter-tribal wrestling tournament at Juba Stadium, which was organized by South Sudan Wrestling Entertainment (SSWE), with funding from USAID, in Juba from April 16th – April 22nd.
This event was attended by a large number of fans, and it concluded with a dance for all the groups that had participated, with the exception of the Imatong state team, which had returned to Torit.
The wrestling games are meant to encourage peace, forgiveness and reconciliation among South Sudanese. SSWE said that it had assembled the best wrestlers South Sudan can produce from tribes in Jonglei, Eastern Lakes, Imatong and Terekeka states.
Jonglei State’s team won all its matches against the other states.
