Jonglei State ministry of labor plans to pay pension fees for its civil servants that have attained retirement age in August.
The minister for labor and public service in Jonglei State Thon Simon told Radio Tamazuj that about 200 state government employees over the retirement age of 65 continue working because government has not paid their pensions since 2011.
“We are preparing pensions for civil servants in the state. So in August, we will pay some of them,” he said.
Simon pointed out that the state has not been able to account for about 24 million SSPs allocated to payment of pensions since independence in 2011.
The official added that the move will create job opportunities for new gra by the state government to pension off those over 65 years will open vacancies for the new graduates.
