South Sudan’s Jonglei State government on Saturday launched an official website in an effort to export positive attributes of Jonglei people.

The website www.jongleistate.org was launched by the state information ministry in partnership with Park Palace Hotel in Bor town.

Atong Kuol, Jonglei information minister told reporters that the website will provide information to South Sudanese communities at home and in the diaspora about activities in greater Jonglei areas.

“As we all know the world is digitalized. Those who live in far countries will get to know about Jonglei, political development and cultures. What people in the world know about us in greater Jonglei is child abduction, cattle raiding and many other negative things. But you see, there are good things happening like relationship among neighboring communities, business activities and agriculture. So we want those in the diaspora and other parts of South Sudan to know about them,” she explained.

Minister Atong revealed that her ministry will commit resources for running and maintaining the website, adding that the peace agreement will soon stabilize the country’s economy.
