The Bor Community Youth Association (BCYA) in Jonglei state over the weekend elected a new leader months after the association was dissolved over incitement allegations.

In February, Jonglei youth minister Dut Abraham Bol dissolved all community-based associations in greater Duk, greater Bor and greater Twic counties over alleged incitement to violence and hatred among the local communities in the state.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday Akech Ajith, the newly elected chairman of BCYA welcomed his election, saying his priority will be to unite local youth and build a good working relationship with the state government to ensure services are delivered to the communities.

For his part, youth minister Abraham told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday that he has directed all associations dissolved to re-open after Jonglei youth pledged to work together.

He warned those found engaging in malicious gossip and inciting violence among the communities will be arrested.
