Jonglei State Minister of Health Dr. Angok Gordon Kuol said they have recently sent a shipment of medicines to Twic East County. In an interview with Radio Tamazuj, the minister noted the shipment is a donation from neighbouring Bor County.
“Last week we sent medicines that are sufficient for one month, but there are preparations in place to send another shipment that will take three months,” he said.
“Bor County was supposed to receive shipment of medicines enough for three months, but its one month ration was given to Twic East hospital which got burned,” he explained.
Dr. Angok further said they also sent prefabs to be used as emergency rooms instead the damaged health facility in the county due to the difficulty of establishing new buildings during the rainy season.
Earlier the Twic East County Commissioner Dau Akuei told Radio Tamazuj that the area was witnessing acute shortages of medicines due to the fire which gutted the main hospital including a drugs store.
Dau further said the county had received influxes of the conflict-affected people from Duk and other neighbouring areas of Jonglei.
