The governor of South Sudan’s Jonglei Philip Aguer has banned the sale and buying of relief food in the town of Bor, saying the sale of relief items is a crime.
The decision follows the rampant cases of the sale of food by the locals to the traders in the town causing shortage in their own families.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Saturday, Governor Philip said the ban on the sale of relief foods is aimed at ensuring that food items reach the needy local residents.
Governor Aguer pointed out that he directed the law enforcement agencies to search and arrest individuals who will defy the ban, adding his administration will take a legal action against whoever defies his order.
