Jonglei governor bans random shooting in Bor town

The Governor of Jonglei State, Philip Aguer Panyang, on Friday issued an executive order banning random shooting in the air in the state capital Bor. Aguer said whoever found guilty will be fined one goat.

The Governor of Jonglei State, Philip Aguer Panyang, on Friday issued an executive order banning random shooting in the air in the state capital Bor. Aguer said whoever found guilty will be fined one goat.

Aguer was addressing state parliamentarians during the opening of the state assembly on Friday.

“Anybody who will be found shooting in the air will be fined. Each bullet is one goat and if you resist you will be arrested,” Aguer told the lawmakers.“This order will continue until disarmament take place in this area,” he added.

Aguer called on citizens to comply with the new order for peace and stability in the state.

Last month, Bor town witnessed sporadic shootings at night creating fear among the locals.

Separately, Governor Aguer also called on the state lawmakers to sensitize their people to embark on agricultural activities increase food production this year.
