South Sudan’s Jonglei State government has announced it will hold a public rally on Saturday to disseminate peace deal to residents of Bor Town.
Jonglei State Governor Philip Aguer told Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday that the state will hold the peace event to also build trust and confidence among the signatories of the September deal.
“We are organizing the peace celebrations to provide a platform for the people of greater Jonglei to express their happiness with the signing of the peace deal. They will also be briefed on progress in the peace implementation,” Aguer said.
The state official pointed out they invited rebel officials in greater Jonglei to symbolize reconciliation and peace among the signatories.
Aguer urged the residents of Jonglei to assume the ownership of the peace agreement for smooth implementation.
