Jonglei residents and professional colleagues bade farewell to Maj Gen Elia Costa Faustino, who is stepping down as Police Commissioner after a transformative three-year tenure.
Lauded for his exceptional leadership, Gen Faustino’s tenure was marked by a significant reduction in insecurity and the strengthening of the sense of unity within the police force.
Jonglei State Minister for Local Government and Law Enforcement Simon Hoth Dual, praised Gen Faustino for his unwavering professionalism and integrity.
“Maj Gen Elia Costa is a professional man who knows how to do his job. We commend him for his work since he came to Jonglei State three years ago,” Dual said.
“He has cooperated with the people of Jonglei State, and whenever there were any orders from the government, he took them seriously.”
Dual said Gen Faustino’s leadership was instrumental in the state’s progress, exemplifying the true spirit of service and dedication.
Faustino expressed deep gratitude for the warm reception and support he received from the people of Jonglei.
Originally from Western Equatoria, Faustino described Jonglei as his second motherland and emphasized the significance of the farewell as a symbol of national unity.
“From the reception I got since day one, and the cooperation from you, the people of Jonglei, I am very happy. It was my first time to come to Bor, and you welcomed me as someone you knew before. I never expected such a level of cooperation and kindness,” he said.
Faustino is moving to his new role as in Lakes State Police Commissioner, taking over from Maj Gen John Baak.
