Jonglei activists, MPs conclude dialogue workshop in Bor

A two-day workshop that brought together civil society activists and Jonglei state legislative assembly members concluded in Bor town on Thursday, with the two sides agreeing to cooperate to ensure effective service delivery.

A two-day workshop that brought together civil society activists and Jonglei state legislative assembly members concluded in Bor town on Thursday, with the two sides agreeing to cooperate to ensure effective service delivery.

Representatives of the civil society were 10 participants, while 20 participants represented the MPs. The event was organized by the Jonglei Civil Society Network (JCSN).

The network’s chairperson, Bol Deng Bol, told Radio Tamazuj Thursday that the dialogue workshop was convened for the two sides to acquaint themselves with the mandate of each other.

“We have seen civil society operating alone for a long time without very close collaboration and understanding with other stakeholders, especially members of the legislative assembly,” Bol said. “As a result, there is always misunderstanding about what the civil society.”

The civil society activist expressed optimism that the workshop will help enhance service delivery across the state.

Representing the MPs, Samuel Puol Chuol commended the workshop for its constructive nature and emphasized the importance of continued engagement between civil society activists and MPs.
