John Agou, who is one of the 16 individuals who were accused of alleged corruption case in the office of the president in 2015, has been moved from prison so he can be treated in hospital in Juba.
David de Dau, the leader of the advocacy group calling itself the Agency for Intervention and Management (AIM), told Radio Tamazuj that Agou suffered from multiple sicknesses in jail and that he was taken to St. Luke Hospital for treatment.
The activist called on the government of South Sudan to allow Agou to travel outside the country for treatment, pointing out that they had sent a letter to President Kiir’s office to allow Agou to go for treatment abroad, but there was no any positive response.
He noted that Agou needs specialized treatment abroad.
Agou was among 16 people sentenced to life imprisonment for their role in the loss of $14 million and 30 million South Sudan Pounds (SSP).
Agou was left out of the presidential pardon for unknown reasons.
