A war-wounded SPLA soldier was struck by a car in front of Jebel police station Sunday evening and left in the road for forty minutes until a military vehicle retrieved him and brought him to the military hospital.

The soldier was walking using a cane at around 7:10 pm, but was not picked up until 7:55 despite being in view of the police station, according to an eyewitness. He was knocked unconcious by the car and blood could be seen oozing from his mouth, the witness said.

The car that hit him drove off after the crash. Commercial motorbike operators in the area tried to chase the offending vehicle but were unsuccessful.

The witness said the officers at Jebel police station said they did not have car to take the victim to a health facility.
