Jailed opposition leaders on hunger strike in North Kordofan, Sudan

Leaders of the Sudanese National Consensus Forces who are detained in North Kordofan prisons reportedly began a hunger strike on Sunday morning.

In an interview with Radio Tamazuj, Adam Ali Adam Faddalah, the head of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North office in North Kordofan state said that the political detainees will continue their strike unless they are taken to court for a fair trial.

The hunger strikers were identified as Osman Hassan Salih, the head of the Sudanese Communist Party in the state, Ali Abu Al Gasim Osman of the Sudanese National Umma Party, Salah Eddin Mubashar, a leading figure in the Popular Congress Party, Salah Al Fuda, another leader of the Popular Congress Party, and Khalid Dawoud, a leader of the Arab Baath party.
