For the first time since the outbreak of a conflict that has left hundreds of people dead or wounded and thousands more displaced, a delegation of Arab Maalia leaders has arrived in Ad Daein town. They are there to participate in an Islamists Movement conference in the stronghold of the Riseigat tribe.

Al-Zubair Ahmed, the secretary-general of the Islamists Movement in Sudan, said the organization supports peace between the two groups in East Darfur.

He praised the Rizeigat for welcoming the delegation, along with the Maalia for cooperating. He said it was an encouraging sign toward healing the rift between the communities.
