Iran embassy staff in Sudan leave to Tehran

The Iranian embassy staff in Sudan have left Khartoum for Tehran on Monday after the end of the deadline granted to the Iranian mission in Sudan, according to the Sudanese Foreign Ministry.

Khartoum has cut its diplomatic relations with Iran after Gulf ally Saudi Arabia did the same amid mounting tensions between Riyadh and Tehran over the execution of a cleric.

Sudan’s foreign ministry spokesman Ali El Sadiq said in statement that Sudanese authorities cooperated fully with the Iranian mission to enable its evacuation.

“The Iranian mission did not face any obstacles in regards to the disposition of their properties,” El Sadiq said.
