The head of the national investigation into the recent violence in Wau has promised to hold accountable those who were responsible.
“We have met the families of the victims of the incidents,” chief investigator Kuong Danhier Gatkuak, who is also minister for transport. “They told us very horrible stories about people who were killed during the incidents.”
Kuong said they will present their report to President Salva Kiir to take further action which will contribute to restoration of peace and security in the state and to ensure those who fled to return to their homes.
“The committee has received all the information and visited all the places,” Koang said.
The minster stressed that those who were involved in the killings will be held accountable through a justice committee which will be formed later. He called on the organized forces to respect the ceasefire agreement and use force only in self defense.
