Investigations have been launched into a suspected outbreak of food poisoning in Wau, after the death of an SPLA operations commander during a workshop last week.
Nearly 60 SPLA officers who attended the workshop also reported gastrointestinal illnesses shortly after eating food at the workshop.
SPLA deputy spokesman Santo Domic told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that police authorities in Wau have already investigated three women in charge of catering services at Sunrise Hotel and two others working for the UN mission in Wau.
Last week, South Sudan military said Canal Mathok Akec who was the acting operations commander in Wau and a private died of food poisoning during a workshop organized by UNMISS in Wau.
