An International conference for investment in Sudan has been cancelled after the US pulled out amid the government's crackdown on rebels and humanitarian situation in Blue Nile and South Kordofan.

Diplomats said they are not expecting to hold the conference any time soon, to avoid any show of western economic aid or debt relief to Khartoum whilst fighting continues in the border areas.
