Differences have emerged among members of the ruling National Congress Party (NCP) in Sudan’s South Kordofan State, a party member said.

A misunderstanding on organizational matters in the state reportedly led to defection of a group identifying itself as Nusrat El Haq, according to a source.

The group presented a petition to the NCP Deputy Head on Organizational Affairs Ibrahim Ghandour who promised to look into its complaints. They complained about lack of their participation in geographical constituencies and legislative assembly as well as other grievances.

Daud Abu Kalam, a journalist from Kadugli, confirmed to Radio Tamazuj that there were differences among the party members in the state.

However, Abu Kalam who is also member of the ruling party said what happened was just a misunderstanding on organizational matters among the members. Abu Kalam downplayed the defection, describing it as a “normal matter”.
