The inter-state governor’s peace conference that was to be held yesterday 12 April 2018 in Twic State to revitalize the Northern Corridor Agreement has been postponed to the end of the month due to low attendance.
The agreement was signed in February last year to monitor and improve cross-border security between former Unity and Warrap bordering states including Abyei region.
Lam Tungwar, the information minister of Northern Liech State told Radio Tamazuj that the three governors who met in Wun-rock on Wednesday decided to postpone the meeting to allow Twic governor and security stakeholders to be present.
He further pointed that the meeting recommitted to invite SPLA division commanders to represent each state in the next conference scheduled to take place in Abyei.
All signatories to the Northern Corridor Agreement were invited for the conference including Northern Liech state governor Dr. Nguen Monytuel who is also the chairperson, and governors of Twic, Tonj, Gogrial states and Abyei region.
