Schools and government institutions in Mangala, Jubek State, reopened on Monday after recent clashes in the area.
Gunmen attacked Mangala last month, killing 7 and forcing residents to flee the area.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, Commissioner of Mangala Elario Paul said that residents have slowly returned to Mangala because of the increasing security situation, but are still in dire condition. Many houses were looted and destroyed during the attack, and the commissioner called on humanitarian organizations to provide tents and drugs.
“I want to stress that the issue of Mangala must be solved by the national government so it does not repeat itself,” Paul said.
