Insecurity and lack of teachers is greatly affecting education in Pochalla County in Boma State, according to a government official.

Jay Adingora Alaual, Pochalla County Commissioner, told Radio Tamazuj on Friday that the level of education is declining due to rampant insecurity and lack of teachers in the area.

He further said most of the students fled to neighboring Ethiopia in search of safety and education since last year, adding many teachers have deserted the teaching profession due to low salaries and insecurity in the county.

“Teachers are not all on their duties because they are discouraged because of the low salary and delayed salary always,” Alaual said.

The government official pointed out that most of the schools in his county have only two teachers. He revealed that his county plans to recruit more teachers.
