Insecurity blamed for agricultural season failure in Raja

Farmers union in Raja county in South Sudan’s Western Bahr el Ghazal state say the agricultural season has failed this year due to insecurity in the area.

Karama Ali Mohammed, chairman of the Raja farmers’ union told Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday, said that armed groups steal the crops after they have been harvested. This is ruinous to the lives of farmers and their families.

He added that some farmers, especially those who live in the northern part of Raja, have abandoned their farms and fled to Ed Daein area in Sudan.

Karama called on the authorities to provide security for the farmers to allow them to earn their living.
