South Sudan’s inflation rate has reached 835.7 percent over the past year, the country’s Bureau of Statistics announced.
The Bureau said that the increase was mainly driven by high price in food and non-alcoholic beverages. Since December 2015 when the Central Bank abandoned its fixed exchange rate, the value of the SSP has tumbled. On Thursday, one USD was trading for 100.5 SSP.
South Sudan’s monthly inflation rate increased by more than 17 percent over the past month.
