A baby has died due to poor healthcare at a camp for stranded South Sudanese nationals in Al-Fattasha area west of Sudan’s Omdurman town, a camp leader said.
Sultan Kuac Aguek Malek told Radio Tamazuj that about 7,000 stranded people from South Sudan are currently living in the open in the west of Omdurman town, amid lack of basic services in the area.
He further said a new born child died recently due to poor healthcare, saying the displaced people couldn’t find an ambulance to take the mother to any health facility in the town due to lack of transports at the camp.
The traditional leader pointed out that the mother of the baby was taken to the health facility by police vehicles that were around the area.
Aguek revealed that they were relocated to Al Fattasha area by the Sudanese government without tents or building materials, while blaming the South Sudanese embassy in Khartoum for neglecting them.
