A critically ill pregnant woman suffering from complicated malaria has recently received life-saving medical care from Indian peacekeepers in Melut area of Upper Nile.
Reportedly, the woman had initially received anti-malarial medication after suffering from fever and vomiting for several days. However, her condition worsened due to complications relating to her pregnancy and she collapsed.
According to UNMISS, the woman was rushed from the UN Protection of Civilians site at Melut in the Upper Nile region to the nearby Level One Hospital operated by the Indian battalion.
It said the medical team placed her on basic life support, providing her with fluids and anti-malarial medication, until her condition stabilised, adding that she has since been evacuated to the hospital at Paloich for further treatment and care.
