The International Medical Corps says that the rainy season may cause an outbreak of diseases at protection sites across South Sudan.

Boakai Dempster, the site manager for IMC at the Juba protection camp, said that citizens are specifically exposed to epidemic diseases during the rainy season like cholera, malaria infection, acute respiratory infections, skin diseases, and diarrhea.

Last year, IMC vaccinated over 80 percent of the camp residents, but it still wasn’t enough.

“This year we have created health sector partnership with TESO, Concern World Wide and the camp management committee headed by Acted,” Boakai said.

Boakai also denied rumors that IMC would close their medical programs in the Juba PoC.

“IMC is not going anywhere and is here to stay,” he said.
