The governor of South Sudan’s Imatong State has called on citizens of Pageri, Parajuok and Magwi who fled as refugees to neighbouring Uganda to return to their homes saying the security situation is stable.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, Governor Tobolio Alberio Oromo said he has relocated his office temporarily to Pageri to encourage citizens to return to their homes and prepare to celebrate Christmas.

“That is why I decided to bring my office in Pageri for one month so they can be encouraged to return to their houses,” Oromo said.

He admitted that a series of fighting between government and armed opposition groups early this year forced many civilians to flee their homes and seek refuge in neighbouring Uganda and many others displaced.
