Local authorities in Imatong State released 13 detained former government officials who had served in Eastern Equatoria State on Saturday.

The former officials, who were imprisoned for moth than a week, include former speaker of the state parliament and several ministers and commissioners.

Jerman Charles Ojok, former commissioner of Torit County and one of the detained former officials, told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that they were arrested on 6 October without any clear charge.

He pointed out that the state government decided to release them last Saturday, saying reason for their imprisonment for eight days remains unclear so far.
