South Sudan’s Vice President James Wani Igga is engaged in consultative meetings with stakeholders of Northern Upper Nile State ahead of the formation of an investigative committee to investigate the land dispute between Maban communities and the Apadang Dinka, the spokesperson in the Vice President’s office said.
David Mayen told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that the Vice President is consulting with sons and daughters of the area to understand the root causes of the problems and is expected to form a committee before the end of this week.
Mayen explained that most of South Sudanese communities have land and border disputes, calling on traditional leaders of Northern Upper Nile to adopt the spirit of dialogue in resolving their issues instead of violence so that they can live in peace.
Violence erupted between the Apadang Dinka and Maban communities in Phaloich in August over the ownership of Kilo Ashara area.
