South Sudan’s Minister of Information and Broadcasting Michael Makuei Lueth announced Sunday that an IGAD head of states summit in Juba has been rescheduled to 23 November.
In a statement to the Anadolu News Agency, Makuei said the meeting of IGAD head of states and governments was delayed from 19 to 23 November, saying the decision was taken by the regional body and not them.
The Juba government spokesman pointed out that the delay is due to previous commitments of the African leaders.
Meanwhile, a source in the East African regional bloc IGAD told Radio Tamazuj from Addis Ababa on Monday that he does not expect the IGAD summit in Juba will not take place on 19 November as planned. However, the source didn’t give further details about the reason for the delay.
He also said the decision was a matter for the IGAD Assembly to decide, not for the mediation team.
