IDs to be issued for Abyei residents in November

The Nationality and Migration Department in the contested Abyei area between Sudan and South Sudan will issue nationality certificates and passports to residents beginning in November.

Director Garang Mun Pajok told Abyei Today newsletter that supporting documents for the Abyei residents are very important, saying with documents they can look for jobs and travel easily besides the other related matters.  

He noted that the documents will be processed within two weeks period. He revealed that a technical team from the nationality and migration office in Juba will arrive in Abyei where it will start issuing the documents to the residents in November.

The Abyei official stressed that the team will not leave the area before issuing nationality certificates and passports to whoever wants to have them.
