Thousands of people displaced by the clashes in Abu Karshola area who fled to Al Rahad in North Kordofan in recent weeks are facing an acute shortage of humanitarian aid.

Sources in the town told Radio Tamazuj that there is a total absence of competent organizations. They claimed that the little assistance rendered by local governmental organizations was not enough to fulfil their basic needs.

There are reports that some IDPs have fled onward to White Nile State or Khartoum owing to lack of assistance in the area of Al Rahad.

Last week multiple sources told Radio Tamazuj that more than 40,000 IDPs from the contested areas of South Kordofan have reached to Al-Rahad, but the some sources confirmed yesterday that the number have now dropped as a quite big number of them left the region to other near-by regions.

Al Rahad citizens were also waiting yesterday for news of the battles just south in Abu Karshola. They were concerned that if government forces were defeated the conflict might spill over into Al Rahad town.
