The deputy head of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Sudan, Bernato Alberto visited South Sudanese refugees in Sudan’s South Kordofan State as well as returnees from rebel-controlled areas.
Alberto met with South Kordufan state governor, Issa Adam Abakar and discussed partnerships between the state government and humanitarian organisations to meet the demands of the needy.
Alberto said they came to acquaint themselves with the situation of the IDPs and the returnees before they find ways of helping them.
Speaking to the press after the meeting, Governor Abakar said the situation of the IDPs and the returnees in the state is worrying and needs cooperation between government, aid organisations and the federal ministry of humanitarian affairs to provide for the needy population.
