Local authorities in Wullu County of Lakes State confirmed that a man identified as Loor Mathiang Yai killed the father and a brother of a man who committed adultery with his wife in Wullu County last Friday.
The commissioner of Wullu County, Jima Dafalla Rejab, identified the deceased as Ayuello Maguei Kakaya and Abuki Ayiro Anyar Kakaya. He said that the security forces in the area apprehended the brother and the maternal uncle of the murder suspect who is on the run.
“The suspect (Mathiang) killed these people yesterday (Friday) in Wullu and escaped. He is still at large but the security forces have managed to apprehend some of his relatives including his maternal uncle and his brother,” he said.
He added that the man who committed adultery, James Ayuello Maguei, had earlier been fined to pay seven cows and is still in police detention in Rumbek. Daffala said the aggrieved man refused to receive the cattle from the man who committed adultery with his wife.
“I heard that he refused to receive the seven cows from the man but he has received some fees he paid when he opened the adultery case against the man,” Daffalla said.
The police chief inspector in Wullu County, Colonel Machar Maker Riel, said the murder suspect Loor Mathiang Yai has not yet been arrested but that security forces were pursuing him.
"The son of Ayuello Maguei Kakaya, who is identified as James Ayuello Maguei Kakaya, committed adultery with Loor Mathiang’s wife. The case was brought to the police and we took the case of adultery to the court in Rumbek. James Ayuello Maguei who committed adultery with Mathiang’s wife was arrested in Rumbek Central Prison and fined to pay seven cows and refund court fees of 10,000 and 90,000 SSP which were stolen from the home of the woman who he committed adultery with when she was in the court in Rumbek,” Col. Maker narrated.
The police chief said that the family of the adulterer, James Ayuello Maguei, had reassured the aggrieved husband that they will pay up the money and cattle.
"This husband of the lady who committed adultery with the young man was given assurances before he killed the father and the brother of the man who committed adultery with his wife. They said that his losses will be refunded,” Col. Maker said. “He was shown a cow and it was explained to him that this cow will be taken to a Rumbek auction for sale and your money will be refunded. But he still killed the father and the brother of the man who committed adultery with his wife on Friday."
