A hunter was killed by armed bandits suspected to have come from Warrap State’s Tonj South County in Cueibet County’s Abiriu Payam in Lakes State on Wednesday.
The police spokesperson in Lakes State, Maj. Elijah Mabor Makuac told Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday afternoon that the deceased went poaching wildlife for meat at 9:00 a.m. but unfortunately met some armed criminals suspected to be from Tonj South who killed him.
“The information came to us late after the perpetrators had already fled so no arrests were made and the killers were not identified,” he said.
Still in the same village in Cueibet County, a 12-year-old boy inadvertently shot and wounded a 6-year-old girl on the same day.
“We registered an incident at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday in Pan-thilik village of Abiriu Payam in Cueibet County where a 12-year-old boy shot and wounded a 6-year-old girl,” Maj. Mabor stated. “The victim was taken to Abiriu PHCC where she is receiving treatment. According to the report, the rifle used belongs to a Warrant Officer of the Wildlife Service.”
He said the gun was left unattended in the house and that the boy is currently being held at the police station at Abiriu and that the owner of the rifle owner will be apprehended on charges of negligence.
“The authorities are pursuing the suspect who is the rifle owner to be apprehended for investigation over the incident and negligence,” Maj. Mabor said.
