Thousands of people in Manyo County in South Sudan’s Upper Nile State have fled to Renk County due to food shortages, a local official said.
Speaking on Radio Tamazuj’s With the Commissioners program, Awak Ochio Awal, Manyo County Commissioner, said many families were experiencing harsh humanitarian conditions in the area.
The local official further said a survey conducted last month indicated that about 26,000 people need aid assistance in his County.
The commissioner pointed out that a large number of local residents fled to Renk town due to hunger and lack of shelters. Awal called on humanitarian organizations to help the needy people as soon as possible.
