At least two people have died of hunger in Torit County in South Sudan’s Imatong State last week, a local official said.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Friday, Torit County Commissioner, Lima Albino, said the people of Torit County were suffering due to hunger, adding that the lack of food has forced a large number of people to go refugee camps in neighbouring Kenya and Uganda.
He pointed out that citizens are also dying of hunger on their way to Kenya and Uganda.
Albino called on humanitarian agencies to quickly intervene and provide food for the hungry people in Torit.
