Hunger claims more lives in Amadi state

More than 50 people have died of hunger in parts of South Sudan’s Amadi State, a top state official said while calling on aid agencies to provide food aid in the area.

Amadi state governor, Joseph Ngere Pachiko, told Radio Tamazuj on Monday that communities in Yeri, Mvolo and Bahr Girinti counties lack food.

Ngere further said more than 100 women and children from Yeri County had arrived in Mundri in the last few days in search of food.

The governor explained that they notified the World Food Programme (WFP) about the deteriorating hunger situation in the area but they have not received any feedback.
