The Sudan Humanitarian Aid Commission has welcomed the government’s commitment to allow humanitarian aid supplies into the country.
Yaloi Adam Binayya, the head of the commission, expressed confidence that allowing aid through various corridors under the recent agreement with the United Nations will provide necessary relief to affected populations.
Speaking during a media briefing on Monday in Port Sudan, Binnayya reiterated the commission’s commitment to facilitating all necessary arrangements for organizations working in the humanitarian field.
She further appreciated the efforts of UN agencies operating in the humanitarian field and providing services to those in need during the current challenging circumstances in the country.
Binnayya urged the UN organizations to exert more efforts to provide essential humanitarian needs to the affected people in Sudan.
Last week, the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed the United Nations of the government’s approval to use the Tiné Crossing from Chad to El Fashir to deliver specified humanitarian aid.
Parties to the conflict in Sudan have been exchanging accusations of hindering the delivery of humanitarian aid to those affected by the war.
Since 15 April 2023, Sudan has witnessed military confrontations between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), leading to the deaths of thousands and the displacement of millions of Sudanese.
UN reports have described the displacement and refuge situation in Sudan as the largest displacement and refuge operation in the world. The prospects for solutions between the parties regarding the cessation of war and negotiations for peace remain stalled.
