Humanitarian assistance provided to S Sudanese refugee in Joda, Renk

A refugee coordinating committee in Sudan’s White Nile State in collaboration with indigenous organizations and Word Food Programme (WFP) announced that they transported about 900 tonnes of food items to South Sudanese refugees.

A refugee coordinating committee in Sudan’s White Nile State in collaboration with indigenous organizations and Word Food Programme (WFP) announced that they transported about 900 tonnes of food items to South Sudanese refugees.

In a Sunday press statement, the head of the refugees’ coordinating committee Al Tayib Mohamed Abdullah said they dispatched 12 trucks carrying 407 tons of sorghum by land to Joda area, besides 17 trucks carrying 504 tons of sorghum to Renk. He added the convoys arrived in Renk on 18 and 22 June.

The state-run media reported that a humanitarian corridor based on the agreement signed between Sudan and South Sudan will continue until the end of this year.

The governor of White Nile State Abdul Hamid Musa Kasha last week visited South Sudanese refugees who are encamped in Jebelain Locality.

The visit reportedly aimed at acquainting the governor with the humanitarian situation of the South Sudanese refugees living in the area as well as new development projects.
