Government troops on Wednesday seized the family homes of the exiled former army chief in Juba, a family member said after he was declared a rebel in January.
Malong's wife, Lucy Ayak Malek, told Radio Tamazuj today that South Sudanese military had confiscated three homes owned by General Paul Malong in Jebel, Kololo and Thongpiny neighbourhoods.
Ayak further said the authorities didn’t give a notice of “closure and confiscation” on the homes of Paul Malong in the nation’s capital Juba.
She pointed out that their homes had been occupied by government soldiers. “The soldiers came and expelled our relatives who were staying in the three houses,” she said.
Ayak stressed that the government decision to kick their family members out of the three homes in Juba is unfair.
Presidential spokesman Ateny Wek Ateny said he had “no information” that the military confiscated Malong’s homes in Juba.
Malong’s family said earlier this week that government forces had raided the homes of the exiled former military chief in Northern Bahr al Ghazal, where they searched for weapons.
