Hundreds of HIV/AIDs patients in Ezo County in South Sudan’s Western Equatoria State are currently facing a desperate future due to massive shortage of drugs in the area, a local official said.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Ezo County Commission Luciano Bakinde said lives of about 800 HIV/AIDs patients including new born babies are at risk due to drug shortages in the area.
Separately, Commissioner Luciano said local residents are facing a critical food shortage and other basic services due to the closure of the roads to the County, while blaming members of the opposition faction for causing insecurity.
Bakinde revealed that hundreds of families fled to neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo in search for food. He called on the government to initiate a forum for dialogue with the armed groups in order to open up humanitarian corridors for the conflict-affected people.
