The United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary General in South Sudan, Hilde Johnson has congratulated both South Sudan and Sudan on their successful efforts to bring about stability.
A spokesman from UN headquarters, Eduardo Del Buey, said in a statement that Johnson had congratulated both parties in writing on their agreement reached, allowing the resumption of oil production, bi-lateral trade and transportation.
South Sudan’s oil is expected to be piped once again through neighbouring Sudan at the end of this week. They halted oil production early last year following a dispute between the countries over processing and transit fees.
Both nations signed a matrix last month which outlined the implementation of a cooperation agreement reached last September in Addis Ababa.
