At least two soldiers were killed and three people were injured when gunmen attacked a vehicle carrying a finance team from the Urban Water Service in Wadi Ibra about 6 kilometers from Katila Locality in Sudan’s South Darfur state.
The gunmen are said to have seized more than 300,000 Sudanese pounds.
Witnesses told Radio Tamazuj that a vehicle of a revenue collection team from the Urban Water center in Katila locality was attacked by gunmen in military uniform driving a Land Cruiser pickup.
“Two soldiers accompanying the team were killed and three staff have been injured with one in a critical condition transferred to Khartoum hospital,” one eyewitness said.
The eyewitness added that the gunmen have seized more than 300,000 Sudanese pounds from the team which was collected from various Urban Water centers across the area.
Separately, the governor of South Darfur Adam al-Faki issued a decree relieving four chiefs from the local native administration of Fallata and Salamat tribes in connections with the recent clashes between the two tribes which led to the killing and injury of dozens people.
