The High Court in Juba on Thursday adjourned the hearing of a labor case filed by former national staff of the UAP Insurance Company to 9 October.
This comes after the advocate representing the firm submitted a reply to the plaintiff’s statement presented to the court last week.
Addressing reporters shortly after the session, the plaintiff lawyer, Malith David Abyei from the Manyang and Co-advocates representing the former UAP staff members, said in the next hearing, they will reply to the legal objection and the statement issued by the defense lawyers.
“Today’s session was a reply to the statement of the plaintiff which is a legal objection and the statement of defense, we received them and we are going to reply to the legal objection and statement of defense and the session is set for 9 October,” he said.
On 6 October 2023, the Ministry of Labor issued directives for UAP to rehire the unlawfully dismissed national staff, including executive members, and proposed salary increments. However, the management of UAP Insurance South Sudan has not complied with these directives, prompting the former employee to resort to the court for justice.
