Unknown armed men ambushed and killed a herdsman grazing cattle in Duk Padiet County in South Sudan’s Jonglei State on Thursday last week, a local official said.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Saturday, the county commissioner, Peter Chol Gatluak, said the herdsman was killed in Buongjok area. He pointed out that the attackers also made away with 350 cows, which were later recovered by the local youth.
“The attackers were followed and in the evening the cows were recovered after the clashes. The attackers are criminals from Boma,” Chol said.
The commissioner, however, said the area is now calm, despite Thursday’s incident.
