A herder is nursing injuries after he was shot in an attack by cattle raiders in Duk Pagak County in South Sudan’s Jonglei State on Wednesday, a local official said.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, the commissioner of Duk Pagak County Yien Jal said the incident occurred when an armed group attacked a cattle camp in Pajimaar Payam.
He pointed out that 250 cows were stolen during the raid. “The attackers took the cattle after a serious fighting. The youth are still following their cattle, he said.
Yien accused bandits from Boma State of attacking the area.
Commissioner Yien appealed to authorities in Boma State to apprehend the criminals and return to the stolen cattle.
Boma state government could not immediately be reached for comment.
