One herder was killed and another wounded in a cattle raid in Adila Locality of East Darfur, prompting one Darfur tribe to accuse another of violating a ceasefire.
The theft of 71 head of cattle in Adila Locality yesterday morning was carried out by unknown gunmen. But Ma’alia tribal leader Idriss Hamid accused the Rizeigat tribe of involvement in the incident, saying the perpetrators crossed into Abu Jabra area.
Hamid told Radio Tamazuj that the gunmen killed the herder Mohamed Yahia and wounded another man in the raid.
He called on the regular government forces posted in Abu Jabra to pursue the perpetrators, and pointed out that the Ma’alia and Rizeigat tribes had signed a cessation of hostilities deal in Al Tawisha in North Darfur last year.
