A 26-year-old woman died in Aweil town in South Sudan’s Aweil State on Thursday last week after an overdose of herbal drugs, a doctor said.
Aweil hospital director, Dr. Aleu Poth confirmed the death of the woman after a body checkup was done. The deceased was identified as Ayak.
The deceased used large quantities of a certain herbal drug, which caused her immediate death, Aleu told Radio Tamazuj on Friday.
He warned against using herbal drugs without doctors’ consultation.
“I urge people not to use herbs without medial consultations,” said Aleu.
Although not legalized, herbal drug use is common in South Sudan.
